I had seen the list as put out in 2001.

Then they brought an update in 2006.

This new list of Jobs in demand with, the number of 31 or so occupations came in together with the 2008 Federally Skilled workers in demand. Lot of the jobs are still unfulfilled due to the economic down turn. If I tell you that Canada will need 10,000 or so Doctors and Engineers next year, I am not far out. But the people who clamor to get in are of a different caliber and in the support systems, for which they think that they can feed them from right here. Out of 250000 people that Canada needed, only a 100000 showed up. May be it was a blessing in disguise.

It was like India Lacking the capital and seed money in every field, fifty years ago. One of the Bridges like the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, in New York, was to cost 225 Million Dollars. Just one Bridge, and India's Third Five year plan did not come anywhere close to it. Take a look today, China, it is the most leading builder today and India is the fifth largest builder. They all have the needs for each and every one right there. Yet we see them migrating to far away lands. Everyone wants to move to better lands, because, it is the way the country was built and developed, based upon systematic developments, well coordinated and planned and completed with precision. The needs have changed here today, because the jobs have fled this continent. That does not mean that people don't find a suitable jobs. It is there some where.

So, they will slowly do the check and see in which profession, and where they are screaming for people. Based upon the new requirements they will change the categories. They might even redefine. But as I said before, the demand for the Doctors and Engineers will never seize. People will have to adjust to the vacuum till it slowly gets filled.

Like what they said, "Old order yields place to the NEW". They will bring a new list and they have a method in doing it. It will only take a few good years for us to understand their madness, that is all.

You will have to wait for a while. They have just donned their thinking caps.

Freddie.

I don't believe there is a shortage of engineers in Canada and I don't think there will be one in the future.

The children particularly the sons of many immigrants from China and India aspire to become engineers.

"Growing evidence suggests that the demand for engineering jobs in Canada, particularly in Toronto, is outpacing the supply, resulting in an increase of trained engineers either becoming unemployed, underemployed or working in areas not
related to engineering."

Thanks Freddie and Voltrex for your reply.

Freddie, I got your point. Freddie, one of my friend landed in Canada last year on PR from India . They filed for PR in december 2008. Both of them have done Bachelor in pharmacy and husband had 3 years work experience in company. Do they fall under 0311: Managers in Health Care ?? or it was their luck that they got PR. Or sometimes PR applications are taken case by case basis.

Voltrex, I had a talk with with my friend who recently came to Canada and as per her , students have really tough time finding jobs and I guess part of the reason may be they get enough supply of immigrated Engineers.

Thanks,

Dracs

I have seen a few three years back and i did come across one such individual. I also heard of a few other cases that never came to light. Most of them have taken up technicians job and have out performed the Engineers. The article that you have reproduced is known to me and it was seen about three years ago. It appeared in one such magazine. "October/November 2007 Canadian Consulting Engineer". Fifty percent of the Engineers have done well. The others have taken up Real Estate, Technicians and other jobs that they fancied as sufficient to their level of existence. A few went into IT and without any checks. A Few of them have excelled in their profession and so, I did see a cross section that you have seen. Regardless, the needs in Canada during this year may get filled from local applicants as the jobs have dried up in this tough economy. But when the CIC projects and puts out a list it is projected into the future. How far ahead is unknown and it takes a while for most of us to fathom their brilliance, which I call the method in their madness.

With the advent of <CIIP> : http://ciip.accc.ca/ they have enabled a lot of them get back on their feet and do well. A few of the Colleges have Internationally qualified Immigrants section that helps them get a head start. How well they have done, could only be assessed from the data put out by their own group. And I do have some information about it. But it needs confirmation.

Managers in Health Care (NOC 0311-0)

This unit group includes managers who plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the delivery of health care services, such as diagnosis and treatment, nursing and therapy, within institutions that provide health care services. They are employed in hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes and other health care establishments.

This group includes the following related titles: chief of anesthesia, chief of emergency medicine, chief of medical staff, director of clinical medicine, director of dietetics, director of laboratory medicine, director of nursing – medical services, director of occupational therapy, director of physiotherapy, director of surgery, director, home care services, director, rehabilitation services, medical clinic director, mental health residential care program manager.

A FEW have gotten into Pharmaceutical Manufacturing firms that manufacture diagnostic equipments and with their experience, have sought Immigration into Canada. If your friend has any knowledge in this field he might have been permitted an entry and the spouse also took a ride on his coat tail to join such services. In any case they will have to qualify here and it takes about 12 months of studies to accomplish such qualifications. But you have to be here at the start of such a course.

Not knowing their experiences, I am guessing that it might be the case. You can surely see where they fit in.

Freddie.

Freddie,

I doubt my friend falls in that description if you referred to that.If it implied something else then probably I didn't catch it. But good they reached Canada since it was their dream.
