Hi Everyone:
I am very new member to Candiandesi. I am not aware with the COOP program can u please let me know.
Thanks
The cooperative education program is designed to give students a head start into today's challenging and rewarding field of education.
This program enables the students to integrate classroom instruction with practical and valuable on-the-job experience. At the end of the "co-op" students are usually ahead of the "regular" students in that they not only have a degree, but they also have accumulated one year of experience in their area of professional interest.
Co-op Program is a program that works- for students and for employers. It works because employers have a need that knowledgeable, energetic engineering students can meet, because students recognize the importance of relevant work experience.
Co-op program follow the regular curriculum, students also complete work terms prior to graduation. During these work terms, they are placed in jobs that provide them with opportunities to apply the knowledge they gain during the academic terms. Typically, Co-op students are placed in their first work terms after completing certain credits. They then alternate between an academic term and a work term until completion of their degrees.
The ideal Co-op candidate is an above average student who demonstrates good communication skills, is highly motivated and has an inquiring mind. Qualities such as conscientiousness, flexibility and a strong sense of responsibility are essential. Students benefit the most from their Co-op experience when they perceive it as a fully integrated part of their university program.

This COOP program is only for local students? Or new immigrents, who don't have much experience at their home country also can join?
I am a new landed immigrent and searching job for last couple of weeks.
Till now nothing worked out. Everyone is asking for LOCAL EXPERIENCE.
I was told by someone that, there are some organizatin who offers temp jobs, which we have to work FOR NO SALARY and after couple of months, depending on our skills, either they absorbes us. Or by putting that expereince as LOCAL EXP we can try elsewhere.
Is that true? If any one joined such programs, kindly give me those organizations contact details.
Regards,
