LTTE extremists came under the garb of refugees, not as immigrants.
Quote:maybe because GOI was just glad to get rid of them.
And again, if Sikh terrorist were able to convince Canadian officials, that they were tortured, why didn't GOI did anything that time to show what was the reality?

Visa denial practice is two years old. When GOI did not protest then, the Canadian official would have realized/ assumed that GOI is weak and such perception would have emboldened him. Amnesty International is a notorious organization. Recently they fired one Indian origin official in U.K. because she refused to share the platform with a known terrorist and anti women person. However, GOI, in past has gleefully supported Amnesty International when it opposed Mr, Narendra Modi’s visa application. World watches carefully political developments.
While Canada has denied via to Indian army personnel, I have not come across any instance of visa denial to Pakistan army personnel. Chinese official are well known for unspeakable horrors and torture of Tibetans but Canada rolls out red carpet for them.
I believe that they know that MMS and his Govt. is weak and hence the slap. Going by logic of Canadian official, Bush should have been banned from Canada.
Also it is well known that China issues “Stapled Visa” to Indian citizens from Kashmir and denies Visa to Indian citizens from Arunachal. Still MMS happily does business with them. Pakistan has slapped India time and again in past decade and in each instance MMS and Vajpayee bowed to Pakistan.
India deserves slap and that is what they got. I am not surprised.
MMS Govt. after media outrage has made a squeak. Let us see the result.
I am surprised at the tough stand taken by Indian govt this time over this issue. The ministry in a way threatened the Canadian govt of retaliatory actions against Canadains operating from India in Afgan ops. This is beyond doubt that when it comes to harrasment to anyone thru beaureucracy, our Indian system is best in the world. Also Canada refusing visa to intelligence officers and military and giving publicly reasons for refusal are equivalent to interfering in one's politics and internal matters. Either they should use/reserve their right to not to give any reason for refusal or should refrain from issuing such statements.
Now Canada will have no choice but to grant the visa and also come under the radar of Indian foreign policy makers and security agencies. I hope noone is harrassed because of the highly irresponsible and immature behaviour.
Now they will not only have to grant the visa but there will be thousands more in same category who will also line up to get chance to raise their issues if not granted.
This overinflated Canadian superiority complex and going strictly by the book doesnot always work.
if canadian high commission acts according to their law, then India can strenghten its foreign policy. Upon finding not only canadian but any foreign national who has violated human rights, a visa can be denied or deported.
india image has been damaged after Babri masjid demolition and gujarat atrocities. Infact Indian PM was once regret for the scenarios.

yes it is very easy to blame ourselves and our govt.
let's all agree with each other that it is our fault i.e. a third-world ex-slave country's fault that the oh mightly white first world G7 country won't let our violent barbaric people to visit their country.
it doesn't matter that the country in question is using double standards and stupid reasons to deny visas.
it is easy to say that our govt. reacts slowly.
it is a self-fulfilling statement.
of course a govt. reacts slowly, every govt. does.
it has taken US govt. how many weeks before finally stepping into the BP oil spil issue?
you speak of taking up the matter with indian origin MPs in Canada....oh you mean like Ruby Dhalla.
yes that will be very effective.
