Hi,
Thanks for stopping by.
One of my friend is an Indo-Canadian currently staying in Vancouver, plans to visit india on 6th Nov.
She applied for her indian travelers visa on 25th october 2010.
Our concern is, will she be able to receive her visa before time? as we have planned our trip and done with all the hotel and flight bookings.
how much time does the Indian embassy takes to process a tourist visa?
Regards,
Amit
If it was applied through the VFS service, the time should be ok, but it is close.
Here in Toronto, it takes 1 week to get the passport back.
She should get hers back by mid next week.

she has applied through the VFS service in vancouver, and they asked her to check her status by friday of Monday.......i hope all goes well for her, or we will be in big trouble of no travel and huge bills
I guess it is too late now, but she could have tried applying for an emergency visa.
You get it on the same day.
It is more expensive but if she is of Indian origin, she'll probably get it.
Since you are paying almost 3 times the fee, they usually don't refuse.
Applicants of non Indian origin sometimes have trouble getting it though.
It is somewhat a gamble because they won't let you apply before 72 hrs. prior to your departure.
But if you are refused, it's too late to get a regular visa and you are essentially hosed at that point.

guys,
I m a canadian citizen of indian origin & i'll be going to india in May. I need to know the difference between tourist & entry visa. When i called VFS they asked me to apply for tourist visa if i m not planing to extend my stay over 6 mths, which i am not. It'll save me few dollars on visa fees. But their website states that a person of indian origin should apply for entry visa only.
