Hi,
I have a son who is 4 months old and will be visiting India in Dec. this year with my wife. He was born in Canada. Can someone please guide me as to what kind of Indian visa should we apply for him - tourist or visitor? I called VFS and they mentioned Tourist, but I am still confused and would like to re-confirm with the people who may have applied before.
Thanks,
Why don't you apply for a PIO card for your son (assuming you are of Indian origin)? It's of a much longer duration (15 years) and better value for money than a regular tourist visa. It costs only $165 for persons below 18 years of age. Generally, it is available in 2 to 3 weeks in normal cases.
That's a good idea. But, I am thinking about going for the visa now and when he returns apply for the OCI, which is a long term.
I agree PIO would be better. You can apply for Tourist visa for your son. If you want longer validity than 6 months then you can go for visitor visa but again PIO would be a better choice.

You guys are right. I have re-thought and going to apply for PIO instead of the visitor/tourist visa.
Thanks a bunch!
What will be the best option in below mentioned case ?
Daughter - infant Canadian born (9 month)
me - PR and citizenship under process
wifey - PR and not eligible for citizenship as less than 3 year in Canada
I have already applied for Tourist visa with multiple entry for my daughter.
Thanks
