Dear all
Me and my family are planning to do out landing in Toronto this july. We would be staying there for a month as of now and then return to our origin and probably finally return in 2011. I would like to know if we would have to show CAD 13K+ at the time of landing at the YYZ airport. I am actually planning to carry about CAD 4K for expense for a month for us.

regards

Check the tables provided here. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

You will have to show the minimum amount or more as PROOF OF FUNDS at the Port Of Entry. Once you show them, they will let you into Canada. Otherwise they will send you back. You can surely bring in the change for spending and sight seeing.

What else you need, : http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000602

When I did my landing I did carry the minimum stipulated amount in TC and the officer didn't bother to ask for POF. After returning & reconverting to INR, I did end up losing a substantial amount.

When doing my family's landing later in the year, I did not take any POF in any form whatsover (maybe I thought it was not necessary & also didn't want to lose on reconversion again), and once again the officer did not bother to ask for POF.

Now when I do move finally, I'll have to carry without the worry to reconvert & lose some more!

I guess it all depends on the 'mood' of the immi. officer. Sometimes they ask & other times they don't. To be on the safer side just carry the min. amount.

Good luck!!!! :)

Thank you all for the prompt and valuable feedback. We would have to do necessary arrangements.
