As I mentioned my files have not yet been opened though I am expecting this to happen soon. But I think I am going to ask my parents to apply for a visitor visa before just in case they are denied one later.

Hi Fass2008,
Would you please share your experience of 'applying your parents visitor visa' while they are being sponsored?
Am in the same boat and have just applied for my Mom's visa, while her PR is in process at NewDelhi CIC.
Thanks,

What about if you have to apply for a visitor visa, a second time.
My parents are here in Canada right now on visitor visa and once they go back to India, I was planning to apply for there PR. But as PR process takes several years (I am assuming, I really don't know), they might want to come to visit us in Canada again.
So will they be denied a visitors visa at that time ?
They have a 10 year visitor visa to US and have come and gone back 3 times so far, so I am hoping that is a good indication, in addition to this one visit to Canada where they would have gone back.
It takes approximately 3 years for your case to open once you have filed an application for sponsorship. They can apply for a visitors visa without any problems in this time period.

Does the timelines remain same (3 yrs) if parents have got Greencard in US recently.
Thanks
