hello ppl,
my friends just immigrated from Australia and holds a good driving record in Australia but is finding it hard to get a car insurance in ON...according to MTO he can drive for 6 months on his International license but no insurance company would give him a quote unless he acquires an ON license...this is really frustrating on how MTO and the insurance company contradict each other...he has to get a letter from the Australian authorities about his driving record but until then though he got a car, he cannot drive....any advice and help will be really appreciated...thanks
1. He can rent a car. The rental company would give him insurance.
2. He can show his australian driving license and if he has more than 12 months of driving experience, he immediately qualifies to take the G2 road test (without any experience letter). On a G2, he can buy a car and get auto insurance.
