Days Inn is about 1.5 miles from the University and it is the cheapest that I hit on the web. : $ 72-80/ night if you book 15 days in advance. Check no refunds and other conditions prior to booking. Also it is far away for a walk.

You can call and find out if there are rooms to share and if you have confidence in moving in with other room mates, since you are arriving from out of country, you should watch out.
