Thanks Guys for enlightening us that Gulf is a better option than Canada for people in non IT positions.
As you and Manyam have lived in both these countries, what you say carries a lot of credibility.

Peace

east or west dubai is best for high income people despite the rentals comming down. what does uae has to offer fpr ppl with 10-12000 dirhams salary with 2 schoolgoing kids? living here in uae is a nightmare for middle class people.

I would say

If you keep citizenship and passport aside, UAE roks in terms of tax free salary and proximity to india.

only thing makes you uncomfortable at times is change of job not that easy...

with regards to Varturam comments i totaly agree and second his comments as the majority of Gulf expat population comes under the 10-12000 salary catogory. It will be no loss and no gain formula if you stay in Gulf with that salary and life will be cool.

where as if you come to Canada with the same salary 3000- 4000/ month

still it is not bad but things can go wrong if you start jumping on a mortgage and fancy stuff...

Finally i want the newcomers to think twise and take the right decession before they move out of their currunt place..

hi,
that is exactly the point i was trying to drive in with 10-12k dirhams you just live and save nothing. the gulfees in that categorey would also know the fact that ppl with that range of salary from the year 2004 till 2009 have paid more than 50% of the salary in rents which is a rip off. uae or gulf as such is extreemly good for bachelors earning 10,000. for families with 2 kids one must earn a minimum if 15k plus only then the so called tax free salary is rocking.

There is a concept that once can get the canadian Citizenship can go back to ME and make milions...

My own previous experince (candian company i worked)
It was not the case. They still consider your nationality as Candian citzen from INDIA.
You may end up getting 5-10% salary more compared to Indian expat.

Bottom line of the story is moveing to canada has nothing to do with ME job in later years...

( Sh's are much smarter now.........)
