Which is a better option :
2003 Pontiac Sunfire 50K .
1999 Nissan Altima 100K .
Esp in terms of future maintenance and reliability ...

Pontiacs are not good from reliability, safety and durability perspective.
Esp. 7 year old one.
Nissan is ok, but 13 year old is quite a bit.
How much work has been done on the car?
Has the transmission been replaced at least once?
Has the suspension been re-done?
Has the engine been rebuilt?
How many times have the breaks, pads, shoes, etc. been replaced?
Why does 12+ year old car have only 100K kms. on it?
If very little work has been done, you may get stuck with doing all this after you buy.
Back in the late 1990s, Nissans were pretty crappy.
The ones from last few years are a lot better.
If you don't mind, why are you considering such an old car?

IMO, first consider your requirement before buying any car. what is your use of car? like work related or just for go outside etc.. if you are driving very less km in year you can go with Nissan altima but keep in mind and make yourself ready for regular maints of car as car is 11 yrs old now.
whatever brand you mentioned here pls consider the value of car as well. Do not stuck your self with paying higher price and as Practickm said pls keep all the points in your mind before buying.

Just toying with an idea of a second car .... Both these vehicles are driven by seniors and the mileage is original .. The vehicles look & drive decent ...
Although a Sunfire @ 50K may not be a bad bet but just wondering if an original 100K km Altima may be less to maintain ......... usage will be less ..
