UPS (United Parcel Service) delivered my parcel at my home address to a person who does not live there, and about whom I have never heard of.

This parcel containes goods worth $900 and their traking website shows it delivered yesterday while no-one in my home received it. And noone is aware whether UPS person visited my home or not.

I am going to talk to UPS as soon as they open in the morning to get more details about this matter.

Did it happened to anyone before and kindly advice me how to proceed in this matter now??

It had happened to me before. I used to live in 806-525 belmont street and the UPS guy delivered it to 806 belmont street. Incidentally 806 was a ontario driving test centre and the item was a laptop. I complained to the laptop company but the next day I found the laptop at my door step (delivered by the ontario drive test person).
First see the signature of who reced. the package and compain to UPS. They will track it down for you. In worst case, UPS will refund some / all the cost.
All the best.

Thanks TK for prompt reply.

The latest is that I called UPS they say they delivered it but I have not received it. Then they asked me to contact the shipper who will place a trace on the packet. I already did that, But I donot know how much time it will take and what will happen now.

I am very much anxious because of this kind of theft crime in canada.

I tries to search for some additinal help from the internet and came across these links.

Some may wonder by so many links here, but they are worth reading for our own safety. Here some people have even posted pics how UPS employees are themself stealing public's packets.

I am waiting if anyone have similar experience recently and what happened in that case......... :(

UPS people are not Indian postman. I doubt if some one from UPS would ever steal. Remember that UPS traces the complaints and may file criminal charges if it happens 2 or 3 times with the same delivery man.
The person who recd. it would have signed and told his name to the UPS guy. You can trace him from that.
If it was delivered to the right door (same as the address) but the person who came to your door and recd. it stole it, then it is your responsibility. You canot blame the UPS guy for that. If it was delivered to the wrong door and the person stole the parcel then it is UPS fault.
Finally, as RajCanada said, please change your location. We are not sure, if you are complaining about Canada UPS or Indian UPS. If it is Indian UPS, please disregard my comments as Indian UPS may be the same as Indian post (no accountability)

So, who lives at your home address that does not live there and you do not know about? Or you think someone from the street came to your door and accepted the package? UPS will not hand over anything that way unless the UPS guy knows the people in the neighborhood. I have accepted Canada Post packages for my neighbor stating my neighbor was away and since the postal worker knows me, she left the package with me.

As far as I know, UPS can leave the package at the door or if signature was required, they would ring the bell, get signature or leave a notice of "sorry we missed you, come and pick the package" thing.

As TK stated, if UPS delivered the package to your home, their obligations are met. If signature was required, you or the shipper should have explicitly requested and if signature was required, you can track the signature and try to determine who might have accepted delivery.

Indian postmen are hard working people. I have never heard of any theft by the indian postmen.
