Tourist Visa for Parents already applied for PR !

Hello,

I applied for my parents Permanent Resident Status at Delhi in May 2004 and as per the current status it is likely to take atleast 4 years to land here.

In the meanwhile I want to invite them on Tourist Visa (with bonafide intention i.e no extension in Visa as they cant afford more than 2-3 months due to their engagements in India).

Could some body suggest the prospects of securing a Visitor Visa in view of the already submitted PR application ?

Can a letter from local MP be beneficial ?

Looking forward to hear from our experts.

depending on supporting documentation, and if your application is able to convince the visa officer that your parents will not overstay their visit, and will return at the end, chances of getting visa for parents who have pr application is about the same as those without... if they have previous travel to canada, and no incidents, thats a plus... at the time of applying for the visa, highlight that you have a pr application in the works, but doe to processing times it is expected to take another 4 years, and hence you want the visit visa...

Last year, my dad applied for Visitor visa via mail in the same situation and got it (5-yr multiple) without any problems. The application requires you to mention whether somebody has filed for PR for you, which we did. But other than that, he did'nt attach any special documentation.

I should mention though that he had been to Canada once before and also has a lot of other international travel.

Hello,

Could somebody suggest the procedure to contact local MP for a favourable letter for Parents Visitor Visa and what are the contents like ?

Anybody who has availed such facility in the recent past may please share his experience.

Thanks in advance

Hi Raj,

It's very simple. You can find out on internet as to who is the local MP in your area. Most likely he/she would have a website, where you can get his/her off add. All MPs usually have several people working as off staff. One of the persons would be handling all immigration and tourist VISA enq. They are very helpful. Just be honest abt your situation.

I had a very nice exp with local MP.

All the best to you.

Hi BL,

We are in a similar situation. I have sponsored my parents and my wife has sponsored my mom-in-law. At the time when we submited the application, we didn't know or think it would take so long. We were thinking of getting a tourist VISA for them. Infact my mom has been to US and Canada twice and my mom-in-law has been to Canada, once. My father never came to either country. We thought the application may not be accepted, and hence we were avoiding it. Is it possible, that I can send you personal mail or call you and get exact detail abt the issue. I would really appreciate the same.
