Hello Seniors,

I'm planning to move to Canada from the US in a month. I'm in final stages of an offer from Vancouver, down town area and so is my spouse. Can some one please suggest the prices and possible locations for a 2 BR upper middle class house, (preferably a condo or townhouse not a skyrise) attached to a very good elementary school district and more than 1000 sqft atleast. Both of us drive, so being close to indian grocery etc is not mandatory. My first one is 4.5 yrs old and second one is almost 3 yrs.

I currently spend around $1500 to $2000 US for a 2BR in the east coast.

Thank you!

Check school rankings at http://www.fraserinstitute.org/report-cards/school-performance/british-columbia.aspx and then decide where you want to live. Yor 4.5 year old kid will be going to kindergarden (most of the public schools have half day kindergarden only as of now) and for 3 year old kid you have to find daycare/montessori.

Thank you Ash20. One more help, I see that from this year, Toronto schools have a full time kindergarten program for 5 year olds and up. Do you know if that makes it a lot wiser for me to consider a Toronto offer ? Are you aware of the day care costs and specific day care/pre-k/k options for a 4.5 year old and 3 year old in the Burnaby area. Sorry is it not downtown as mentioned earlier. Please do help.
If Toronto, at least seems like the day care for the first kid will drastically come down. Please let me know your thoughts.

Some of the Vancouver schools have full day kindergarden and I guess Vancouver schools are also starting full day kindergarden from next year (not sure about it). The most difficult job is to find suitable daycare. Private daycare will cost around $800-$1000 for little one while elder one after school day care will cost around $500 per month.

There are many-many condos in Burnaby and it is in the middle of Greater Vancouver. If you need more information about Burnaby, please let me know.

I just see that I never thanked you. Thanks so much, my Vancouver plans did not materialize. I'm continuing in the US now.
