I almost forgot one more thing.. Do guys realize that if Gandhi was alive today, he would have been charged with child molestation cases ! (aka you know like who ) ? Why ?... well

Jake as someone mentione earlier, Gandhi was more a realist and did not believe in practical realities... There is nothing as natural family planning... thats the human nature my friend !...

Ottawa_nerd...about the other charges...these are ways that people try to belittle a person that they can never aspire to be or equal. I know what you refer to but you may want to actually explore the context of those actions if you are really interested in more than proving a point.

As I stated Jake... I dislike Gandhi for his archaic views and how ppl today try to resurrect him for their own selfish needs. As for belittling him, well I dont want to be seen belittling him... Unless you mean the outbursts of Hillary Clinton that Gandhi, if alive, would have worked at a Gas joint or that spoof on the Conan O' Brian show !

AS for the charge ... well dont you see an eerie similarity between what Jackson said in the interview and what Gandhi actually did quite some time ago ? If you want to analyze a person then you should analyze him completely and not selectively.. But again thats a matter of perception

Hi folks,

Its easier to crticise the dead for the 'evil lives after them and the good is oft burried with the bones '. My friends (well v all r friends and this s just a discussion ) . Considering that Gandhi was a shrewd politician and a self centered man I fail 2 understand certain points .
1. Y wud a comfortable Barrister return back 2 his homeland and shed off his clothes to lead a mass movement thruout his life for the benefit of his countrymen ?
2. Y wud the same person preach doctrines of non violence and Satyagraha and lead by examples against all odds . Y wud he instil self reliance and self respect in all his followers .
3. Why wud the numerous crowds / populace follow him in a non violent fearless movement defying the British in their face ---- some1 quoted Hitler --lets not 4get Sanders and jallianwala bagh .
4. With all due respect even martyrs of violence havent been accorded the same status 4 1 simple fact --- its easier 2 react then 2 bear .
5. Y wud a person fast unto death 4 coming 2gether of 2 religions if he was a Politician unlike Nehru and Jinnah .
6. As per his natural self control --- quoting Swami Yogananda 'my mother once revealed 2 my sister that father and her used 2 sleep only 1c in a year as a man and woman and that 2 4 the purpose of reproduction' . It is said that Gandhi slept with 2 women @ a time 2 check his will power and celibacy . But then I agree v dont belong to 'their' category . He was a MAHATMA -- a Mahaan Atma even greater than the Yogis and spiritualists .
7. I recommend reading some of his books 'My Expirments with Truth' 2 learn more about the man without prejudice .
8. Someworld leader had remarked -- I do not recall the name prob Mandela or sm1 else --- 'its impossible 2 b a Gandhi '

Manasvi as per point 3.. precisely. If Gandhi had been present under Hitler's rule then probably we would not have known him today. The British could have nipped him in the bud in South Africa itself. Alas, they did not and thats how he took advantage of it !.. Do not forget under what context Gandhi became famous. It was under the British...Had it been under the Germans it would have been a different story altogether
