I have been following this board for some time and wanted to express my feelings and thoughts, my impressions after reading various posts.

Generally the discussions revolve about coming to Canada (who have received visas look for answers) -whether they should immigrate or should they stay put. Many put the reality forward. Tough conditions, no jobs, struggle and on few occasions success stories. May be, it is the fact. But new immigrants (potential - who have not landed as yet) get discouraged, disillusioned and simply confused. I am writing this as I have gone through the same many a times. I was also in the process of shelving my plans. Hey, I am well settled here, earning enough to have a reasonably good lifestlye, house, car and the works. So why go and start new life, struggle and leave all the goodies behind. Pasine ki kamai karch ho gi Canada mein. I was in an absolute confused and in a worried state of mind. :( Maybe like Arjuna and looking for Lord Krishna to help decide and come to a conclusion.

A few days I was browsing in a bookstore and picked up a copy of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I sat down in the evening to read and finished by night. What a book. It helped make my decision. Ever since I was in school, I had dreams to going to US of A. But never happened. Could have come for management studies but financial factors prevented me from doing so. And now I have a chance I should not miss that. Particularly the reasons given by the Alchemist to the young boy in the oasis helped me make my decisions.

Similarly I feel if one is making decisions based on economics about the money we would lose by coming or the less amount of money we would earn - my advise is forget the money part. Follow your dream. Because such opportunities do not come again. And what stops you from coming back. At least you have given it a try and not repent later in the life, well, I had an opportunity to try my luck but did not. We would have applied to CHC because we wanted the experience of North American life. The job and economic situation has been the same since 1998 or maybe even earlier. But still we applied, went through the process, medicals, IELTS, etc. Just to realize the dream. And now realize it.

If any one is worried about jobs, salary and future - read The Alchemist.

For those who are confused and discouraged -

"Kuch to esa kam karo yaron, shashir ko palkon pe utha lo yaron"
"ched ho jayega asman men bhi, himmat kar ke ek patthar to uchalo yaron"

It is an individual decison based on so many fators but I would say do not get discouraged and dipressed.

I also suggest one book to raed - "Who moved my cheese?". Also available in Hindi - Mera Cheese Kisne Khaya?

my 2 cents:
Always it is not wise to be positive. Sometime situation demands to take decision from negatives.
