Before this South Africa match the last time he scored a ton and India lost was against Australia in 2009 .... and India lost by 3 runs !!!!!
He scored 175 and there were only three players that went into double figures

dravid was slow in early days. later on he was good finisher along with youngsters around him.

Not necessarily, Dhoni as a captain has had a record to think outside the box. He has taken risks and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Remember the T-20 world cup ... he gave the last over to Joginder Singh (where is he now!!) and it worked .... if it hadn't he would have been pulled over coals for that too. Same thing happened here ... Nehra has been frugal at times and he bet it on him ... did not work.
What is important is that the team has clicked more then once and it is no flash in pan. So hopefully they should get the cuppa

If you look closely at other captains you will find they are more active and always on the go with their team mates. Quick on strategies. Eg
Afridi of Pak
Graeme Smith of S.Africa
Andrew Strauss of England
Sangakara of Srilanka
Vettori of New zealand
Sammy of West Indies and
Ponting
Dhoni looks out of sorts
He looks over cool and aloof; sometimes coming off as arrogant.
As if he is thinking about $$$ and rupees.
India will not win because of lack of dynamic leadership..but they are the best team!

Totally agree with you. If it wasn't the arrogance of Ganguly and Dhoni, India wouldn't be one of the best cricket playing nation in the world. Gentlemen can rarely be good leaders, Sachin for example. It's Dhoni's hot hotheadedness that will win the cup for India.
Oh boy, how I miss Dada in this tournament!
I still keep my fingers cross for India.
If we look positively India's loss to SA with only narrow margin and tied against Eng is because of the bad UDRS decision.
So still things are not as bad as portrayed. We have the best batting line in the world and these wickets are conducive for batsmen. We need only three straight win.

The way I see it is this. Dhoni gambles, and gambles a big time on the field with the overall strategy. I rarely think he has any vision or that 'aag - the fire' or for that matter a sensible plan well ahead. Cool? My.... So, when he gambles and take chances, sometimes they click and then there are times they are a damp squib. Take, for example the case of Chawla and Nehra. Dhoni, being experienced should know it well that the last 4-5 overs should be reserved for the pros, like Bhajji and Zahir. Giving the ball to Nehra in the last over, doesn't matter what the situation is, always will backfire. This is no gambling, but a sheer stupidity. It's a sin one can't even remorse.
A couple of small tournaments and a no-go 20-20 win hardly is a matter of achievement. In a world of Cricket, there's only one milestone and that is the World Cup. If you make a foolish blunders (oxymoron, I know) therein, then you need to re-think your career choice - Cricket or Modelling/Acting.
By the way, can someone please enlighten me as to why Sreesanth is not playing? As far as I know he's a wicket taker and aggressive enough to make any striker nervous, thus an effective bowler.
