The battery in my 2001 Echo keeps on dying every month since last December, esp. during the cold mornings. An internet search revealed that it has something to do with defective radio. The radio in my car has also stopped working.

Has any CDs faced similar problem before? The Toyota dealer won't repair the radios but referred me to Peel Audio Video. How good/reliable is this audio/video dealer? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Your radio probably died because of the dead battery . Is it asking for a code to start

Its time to change your battery now, normal battery life is 5 yrs.

especially in cold morning when battery is week so car won't start b'cos of insuffiencent supply the power to turn the crank to start the car.

check with CT, Walmart or any dealer will cost you around $100 to $150 depends by manufacturer.

IMO, nothing wrong with your radio just simply replace the battery and your car would be fine........

If you are little bit techi, you can purchase the battery and replace yourself its easy to do it.

if you need more information PM me.

I changed the battery 3 times in last 3 months. The detailed computer test gives the result "change the battery".

There is something else in the car that is damaging the battery.

It could be alternator that is not working as one of function is to recharge the battery when car engine is on.

whatever is said by Desi # 1 is right, could be your alternator is not charging the battery and your battery is drain out quickly, do your car has any engine light on right now?

beside alternator problem, How many kms you are driving your car in a day? to charge battery you have to drive the car. Your battery won't charge if you are not driving enough.

People have misconcept that if you run your car in idle condition than automatically battery will charge, but this is not true.......

See your PM....

Google is a mans best friend..

The clicking sound you hear is the starter solenoid. It does that when the battery is to low to start your car.
The battery can be dead but not bad. If the alternator is not putting out sufficiently it wont fully charge the battery.

First make sure the alternator belt is tight enough and Not slipping.
You say you've already cleaned the battery terminals.
Did you remove them and clean the inside of the battery clamps and the battery posts?

Boost the car off and remove the cables, while the car is running disconnect the battery (either cable).
If the car dies You have a bad alternator.

The alternator produces electricity, It is there to keep your car running once you've started it and to keep your battery charged for further useage.

The battery is only there to start your car!
