Fido,
But people do apply directly for G as well ...even when they have come from their home countries, so how do they get their G's when they have never driven in G2 , forget two years ?
And does the age have any significance to the insurance rates? I thought that the insurance is high for under 30's....plus the certificate we get by 20 hrs in class...does it really help or no ?
If you have driven in Dxb for 12 yrs , you should be able to clear G ... I strongly recommend doing some Highway driving with an Instructor ... 4-6 hours and going for the G ......... You would save a lot on Insurance down the line and you can make it .. I feel positive ..
Also YES -- its worth the wait for Guelph for 1 month to take the G there ... they do not have any 400 highways over there and you should be good ....
2 things ......... familiarize and be confident with Highway 401 driving ... very essential .... and learn to drive in speed limits ... some thing largely unknown to Gulf drivers .

I think these are the requirements gor G licence:
1. No driving experience from any country in the world..... You need to wait 1yr after G1 (8 months if you take a defensive driving course from a driving school approx. $ 350-400). After your G2 also you need to wait atleast 1 yr before you can give your G test.
2. If you have driving experience/licence then you need not wait between G1 to G2 to G.
From what I gather.... A new immigrant with a G2 will pay approx. $350 for insurance where a person with approx 12-13 yrs clean driving will pay around $180.

The biggest question is if you go shortcut, by giving G directly than you are literally in trouble because if you cant make it (then the G1, G2, G & the time limit in between applies)..
However, if you go with the G1, next week G2, buy your car get an insurance (whatever price, its your destiny), get some experience/drive in the highway, may be in snow, & than go for G (what's the rush)... take it easy, G2 lasts for 5yrs.. (you have to pass G before the end of 5yrs..

Meeting people is easy. Having meaningful connections is the hard part.

Hi Guys,
This is my first ever mail to this wonderful website that I just came to know about. Hats off to all of senior and all members.
Actually I am preparing to leave for Canada on 9th July from Saudi.
I drive from past 5 years and a confident driver except didnt tried on snow.
Ok, I definetly agree that I should give a try for G but before taking some exercise from instructor.
So, before I make you bore (too late ) let me ask the question:
For applying for G license, does the copy or original document of saudi license (5 years) Indian license (8 years) would suffice or
Do i have to take some document from Saudi Traffic that How was my driving from past 5 years ???
I appreciate your time and thanks in advance!!!
Regards
Abdul Mannan
