To Rejuveda:

When you had filed your application 7 years ago, you were 29 and your then your only child was 3. The conditions now are much different. You have to think for the sake of your children aged 10 and 5. You are morally responsible for their success in life.
Basically, Canada is for immigrants who are financially well off in their own land, who have lots of money, do not mind spending five years and several thousands more in Canadian dollars, if that would ensure better amenities and comfort for self and family. Will you be able to recoup the five years in India, if not the money? Is there anyone to take care of your family business for you to start again? If you are prepared to spend ten lac rupees in Canada and that happens to be say 10% of your current savings and may be that you do not bother about losing the same, then you can go ahead with your expedition. On the contrary, if ten lacs, is the maximum you can generate, then coming to Canada may not be suitable.
Immigration to Canada is more suited for people who have certain type of family values, customs and practices but may not be for everybody. For example, in your childhood did your parents expect you to tell them where you were going and what time you will be coming back, every time you leave the house? Do you also expect the same from your children? Are you prepared to accept if they want to be different? When we are in Canada, if our parents or siblings become ill, are we prepared to take it in its stride and be realistic? Are we prepared to make just a phone call, enquire and continue with our daily life? More importantly, are we bothered how our friends and relatives in India will take our detached response. Merely saying yes or no wouldn’t do. We have to put ourselves in such a situation and answer. Otherwise, we will be cheating ourselves.
Canada is only for people who are happy, wherever they are and continue to be happy whatever their environment around them may be. From what you have written, afraid the same problems that you are complaining about India, may only stare at us, when we start living in Canada. Even otherwise, unconsciously we will only try to dig up and present it to others, as reasons for our own setbacks and failures.
Are you prepared to take up any job that comes your way? Are you physically strong enough to lift 30 or 40 lbs? In your own neighborhood, where you live now, are you prepared to work as a waiter in a nearby restaurant? Will you really bother if your neighbors, friends and relatives observe you doing such a job?
When we talk about corrupt politicians and bureaucrats in India, do any of them ring our door bell and give us a share? Do thieves rob us and extremists plant bombs around us on a daily basis? Even in developed countries, once in a while, some lunatic goes on a shooting spree in a college campus killing dozens.

Are you prepared to accept, being cold shouldered by people around you, when you are not having work. Are you ready to accept when people there treat you as intruder and competition?
Do not believe everything your agent in India or the Canadian High Commission (if at all) says. If you leave India just because the Canadian High Commission has given you some papers we are ourselves to blame. After sending you the file no, CHC is inaccessible. They are actually living inside a fortress.
Actually, you need counseling to stand up to all the ills that you have mentioned for continuing to live in India.

Ramar2005,

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty confident that if we do decide to come, i can work very hard and support my family. I would just like to know one thing. say if i had roughly 50,000 CAD to invest, do you think i would get to buy a business or invest in something ? Would it be enough to settle ? I hear that Ca is very expensive and living costs are very high so we always feel we're short of cash to settle. Pls help me out here. Thanks a lot.

After reading this thread for couple of days my response to your question would be.

You could but not worth it. Try Dubai for business in one of the freezone.

I would put your question the other way round
As you mentioned is $50000 CAD enough for Canada, now let me ask you-
How much is enough, if someone has to come to India to settle down & have a decent lifestyle, considering there are no family ties existing. Iknow it will range from city to city & type of house on chooses, & car & kids education, etc. But if you can get an estimate $$ or Rupees figure.. It will make it easier for us to guide you
