Hi,

I am also from Mumbai, I had come to Canada in the year 2009, stayed for six months in Canada and went back to Mumbai. I have done my Engineering and PGDM and was working for one of the big financial services company in India and then I left my Job and came here to Canada. I was 27 at that time and single. I could not get a decent job on the basis of my education. I went back to India and found that even getting job in Mumbai was not easy and if I was getting jobs then Salary was not that good and I was getting offered salaries which were lesser than what I was getting before going to Canada. It took me two months to get a job of same salary and designation but I had to compromise in terms of office timings and other things. I decided to comeback to Canada but decided to comeback with better plan. I studied for GMAT, other exams, got admission for MBA in Queen's University and currently doing the program and will be graduating in April 2012. I have made bigger investment this time (Tuition fees + other expenses were 80,000 $). I am myself looking for jobs and its not easy even after doing MBA from Queen's ( It becomes difficult because you start looking for higher pay packages). Only advantage is since the MBA program and degree is valuable I can go global with this program and look out for jobs else where if not Canada. So it varies from individual to individual. Now coming to you whether you should come to Canada or not, I would like to throw in the following points.

1. What are you doing in Mumbai?..How much you are earning? What stage of life you are into..whether married, having kids..because the older you grow the lesser risk you can take. If you are really doing well in Mumbai and are not quite confident of doing well here..(Well as everyone said its true, its difficult to get jobs but yes not impossible). It depends whether you want to go through so much pain

2. Don't look into Macro economic factors such as Economy and which country is growing etc. ..I agree the opportunities increase with better economy but even in best economies also you may not get a job if you dont have the right skills. If you are talented then even in the worst economies you may still get a job if you have skills, qualifications etc.

3. I agree factors such as pollution, safety , crime etc are important. This is all 10,000 feet level observations which people talk about. Just see in reality how much does it impact you. There are things which are good and bad in both countries. I still miss the street food, comfort of having a maid, getting a auto rickshaw etc in Mumbai. So don't look into these things because when you come to Canada you will start complaining for other things.

4. So all in all just do a detailed analysis, of how things would be 10 yrs down the line if you come to Canada, 10 yrs down the line if you stay in India. Don't worry about Kids if you have. If they are approaching graduation then you may still consider it, if they are too young then forget it, Indian school education is way better. Universities here are good and I have learnt a lot from my MBA experience at Queen's. I consider myself lucky that I could do this program because I faced lot of hurdles to make it here ( Arranging 80,000 $ is not easy) but being a PR helped me in getting half of the money through loans in Canada.

So think about it wisely, Just think about you and your family. Don't look at others because everyone has different experience. Just decide on what is possible for you and go ahead accordingly.

I have sent you this on your email as well..and given you my email address. Contact me if you need any help

Thanks for the insight friends.

Vivek901 - thanks for the mail. I've mailed you back.

San-Hugo - I haven't got that information about 2004 cases being considered in 2013. How do you know ?

Fido - my age 36, married, 2 kids - age 10&5, occupation - business (trading)

Basically if we do decide to come, we will do our own business (we're into organic products) or probably take a franchise as well. We're not looking for jobs so that's not an issue.

The worry is ....after we invest, what are the long term business prospects? The media is projecting a very gloomy picture about US and Canada economy. The high quality of life that we're after...will it continue or will it change ? If govt spending decreases, how will it impact everyone ? will racial discrimination increase because of job cuts and more immigrants ? We want a better life for our children in Canada, that's the reason for coming there. I know Canada is one of the best managed countries today because the economy has been managed better than others.

So what does everyone think? Is it going to be better in the future or worse ? I'm asking for a top-down opinion of the future from you guys.

and thanks for the great advice given till now.

Have you written to CIC Delhi off late about your case ? when was the last correspondence you recieved from them ? What was your doc update date? Did you recieve call for medicals yet (it takes almost a years time from then onwards) ?
Info I have is that 2003 December onwards cases are not being worked on since begining of 2010 and who ever contacted CIC (through email) they recieved written confirmation that their case will not be considered till 2013 in wake of backlog and current fast processing of post Feb 2008 cases. Also in the same mail from CIC , the old cases are being proposed (not forced ! ) to withdraw their application and get refunded , if they want.

BTW, 'Life' in Canada is much better than in India. Period , rest is all emotions!

Buddy if you are well settled in India then do not come. India and Canada are two different models with each having their plus and minus. It is up to you if you have really gone possessive about moving to Canada then come definitely but I am sure you may think that this guy went himself and advocating against.

My understanding is if you have reached certain respectable status then do not start again.

But all the best if you finally decide to come.

San-hugo :- Thanks buddy, I will definitely write to CHC, Delhi and get first hand information. The thing is we depend on the immi agent to send us updates but most probably my agent himself doesn't have this information. Anyway now i'll get it myself. Thanks again. :)

Sghosedelhi - Thanks a lot friend for the advice. Yes we are settled. But kya hai na..."Dil hai ki manta nahin.." Canada keeps pulling somehow. never satisfied here. On top of that, reading the newspaper is like the script of a daily crime soap. Anyway will take the proper advice. They say na...dil ki suno...dil mein bhagwan baste hain...

Thanks everyone for taking time out and replying to replying to my post. I heartily appreciate it.

God bless you all!

Please come to Canada !

We need more money here. Canada is looking for people with hard earned money of India to come to Canada, invest in Canadian business, employ local people. We want your money and not you as a person as we will not give any respect for immigrants (unless you have lots of money to take care of yourselfs). We will use your money to better Canada and in turn lure other rich people to come and spend your money here.
For this , we (in Canada) give your free medicals, free secondary education, food from food banks, clean air, petrol at just $ 1.2 a litre, MacDonals’s burger for $ 1.19 + taxes etc…
Please please come to Canada. Ignore people who are trying to spread a negative message (like Vandemataram) who are spreading non issues that happen in Canada.
Peace by TK
