New Canadians will be required to remove veils before swearing the oath of citizenship, Jason Kenney, the minister of citizenship and immigration announced on Monday.
Mr. Kenney said he had heard concern from citizenship judges that some Muslim women wearing face-covering garments may not actually be reciting the oath when taking part in the ceremony.

I was not aware that veils were even allowed at Citizenship ceremony while taking oath.

- On the road (the other driver on 4-way stop sign can get confused easily).
- While interacting with Govt officials or service providers including hospital.
- Where ever you're required to show the ID.

In the post 9/11 world, burqa is huge security risk that can be misused by terrorists and criminals (who may or may not be Muslims) in public places.
Regardless of the reasons behind Burqa usage, it has a huge potential to be misused by criminals and terrorists
Did anyone watch Rogers Channel 10 discussion yesterday on the same topic. It also had Yudhvir the journalist as the participant and it was a call in show.
Every lady who called in support of this issue always compared it to the sikhs fight for carrying kripan and wearing a turban and made it a human rights issue.
BUT EVERY WHITE PERSON WHO CALLED INTO A DESI TALK SHOW(I was really surprised that goras are watching a desi program) were clearly mentioning that if you cannot accept the law GO BACK TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY.
I WAS TAKEN ABACK BY SO MANY CALLERS FROM MISSISSAUGA, BRAMPTON SAYING THE SAME THING ABOUT IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT GO BACK.
