I have recently migrated to Canada from India. Am confused if I have made the right decision....! This country has some plus points but is it all that WOW that we leave our own countries to make a life here??? There are a lot of hardships here too, while we miss out on family ties, uproot our lives to start from scratch, miss being with our loved ones at the same time our kids are losing out on their culture and are getting into a mixed culture. In terms of infrastructure, corruption and pollution etc this country is probably better in many ways. But at the end of the day, my take is u have to be happy where u are... So what is debatable is we are sacrificing on a lot of things here and also losing out on many things that we could enjoy or have there, so what is it that we come here for exactly.... coz living in India too, we would be facing some challenges as living here but in different other ways. Aren't there pros and cons in both places ?? So why do we prefer on taking the hardships in a new land than in our very own land when there are a lot of plus points there too????!!!!

In country like Canada there is no corruption. But there is another term which I did not find in the dictionary but I know that its effect is worse than corruption. In short it works like this:
'Tax payers keep paying taxes for years then one day govt finds that a big corp. or bank is going to fail and then tax payers money is used to bail out that corp/bank."

thanks for all ur replies. @ dimple2001 yes we were well aware of what we were getting into - at the same time being aware is one thing and actually living it is quite another....! First to start with we have had to totally start from scratch where our professions are concerned, after reaching a desirable platform after putting in all the hardwork, u give it all up in search of so called greener pastures. U come here and u know that u dont stand a chance in the job market as u have no canadian experience and u start all over, which makes it all the more difficult. No domestic help. No family to relate to..weather constraints adds on to ur depressions...U dont even know if u've made the right move...End of the day u begin to wonder if its worth it? U feel probably u could have just lived in India, and face the challenges there instead. Thus a Confused desi seeking clarity...
thanks ashedfc, san-hugo and web 2000 for ur valuable inputs...
DMGM12 - I wish you the best. Hope you can make it. As others have stated, it may be the initial blues and hope you recover and succeed.
In my honest opinion, it is far more difficult for someone with family and a good career background to migrate and assimilate into a new country as they have to overcome the several years of "my way of living" to the new way of living, especially, if one is from a country / tradition/culture that is highly divergent from the new country.
Unfortunately, there are no optimal solution to your confusion other than to try it out and make a decision either to cut the losses or make it out good.
Again, best wishes to you.
Just curious - if you are still seeking a job, what is your professional background?
