You are not the first one or the last one to go through this dilemma.
Here People will keep on telling you that "do not worry situation will improve" but my take on this saying is "Do not worry you will get used to this situation".

DMGM,
It is a very good move that you took to come to Canada, the land of the great.
Initially you will have to struggle (as you would in any country) but Canada has great settlement program. They teach you ESL (English) and also professional english, all free of charge. Some programs even give you the transit ticket for free to attend their classes (8 hours) but you will loose those 8 hours in terms of job search etc....
It may not be easy life here. First the cold, then you will loose your entire savings (based on what you brought) in 1-12 months.
But take heart. A lot of labour jobs are there.Work on the labour jobs from 3 pm to 11 pm. Sleep from 1 am to 7 :00 am.9 am to 1 pm is the time for job search. Every one (except those in IT) go through this phase. This is a phase that the Canadian govt. will never tell you.
But I am glad that another one person has left the cursed India to the blessed Canada. Your job might have been taken by a local in India (or by a US returnee). Canada needs a lot of people to fill up jobs. Petroleum is a abundantly available commodity in Canada. Now with the Iran tension Canada is a country which will benefit the economy and create millions of jobs.
Also try to get a mortgage on a house. You will not be paying rent anymore, only Interest to the bank and the repayment of your loan. At the end of the mortgage, the whole house will be yours. If you are from the Gulf region with decent money, this is a very decent way to survive in Canada.A lot of realtors will be interested in helping you.
As I am also an Architect, you can direct your questions of professional survival to me.
Peace

The same struggle you intend to do in Canada, if u do in India then you have much higher chances of success based on the economies of the two countries. In 90s Canada's quality of life used to be no. 1 but not anymore and the people who immigrated in those times were lucky when third world countries were struggling.

DMGM12 - you can't get best of both worlds. You have to pick one and leave another. Relocation is always difficult and stressful. See how the successful persons of your domain are performing. Check their path of success and evaluate if you can follow. If not, can you choose any other path by relocating or moving to any other/similar profession? At the end, if you don’t see light, just move back without any hesitation.
When I migrated, one of my friend suggested to follow the same as I said above and also advised to try best for 1 to 2 years and then come back to India and stay for 2 months. At the end of the 2 months in India, you will be able to take a firm decision.
