Bringing some jewelery from India to Canada

I have inherited some jewelery from India from parents, want to bring it to Canada during this India trip. I am Canadian citizen now, the jewelery will be around 10 tolas approx... will I be stopped at Customs airport upon my return?

It should not be a problem as far as Canada is concerned. Try to take export certificate from Indian customs if possible. It would help if you take the gold back and you will not be charged any duties when reimporting to India. See "Export of Gold Jewellery" under http://www.cbec.gov.in/travellers.htm

I am settled in Canada.. Just want to bring the jewelry from India to Canada upon my return to Mississauga. Will I have to pay tax on this gift?
