I somehow agree with TK on this case. The new immigrants in Canada (and to some extent in US) are not given enough salary , good job profile because of lack of canadian experience, newness, suitability of communication skill and other flimsy reasons. On same grounds why Indian companies should be generous to foreigners (in this case this desi is 11 yrs foreigner and new to Indian setup as TK described). The guy is getting same salary as he was getting in US ?? something wrong with recruitment process or the guy is one of those who is good in interviews bad in job.

in my view , feeling the responsibility, TK is trying to help his company to find a stable guy for the critical position. other things are secondary.

Thanks San-Hugo. You read my mind and that too coming from a balance person such as you means a lot to me and my goals.

I am having trouble not only with this guy but another USA returned person as well. The other one is a complete goof ball and does not deserve a manager job in India.
However, the common question that the management asks is ' OK. if it is so,can you recommend a replacement". This I am unable to do as I lost all my contacts in the span of the 9 years that I was in Canada.

Peace

Also forgot to state that if in India for the position :
The general salary is : X
The best salary that is offered in an MNC organisation is : 5X
The salary offered in my company is : 8X

So we have the means to find locals who are good in their field either from India or the Gulf. I am slowly trying to convince our HR that MaFoi need not be out placement consultant as what they do is :
1. get Job description from our company
2. Put Advt. in Naukri.com
3. Send all the resume's received.
4. Contact the shortlisted candidates and explain about our company and ask if theu are interested in the job
5. get one month salary of the person as fees

But India is a place with money to throw and the management prefers to waste money like this. They are very slow to received ideas from a Canadian who has seen how immigrants (other than people in IT and finance) are treated in Canada and how Canadian companies look in to each $ that they spend.
For example, in my last company in Canada, the employee was responsible for bagging up the garbage at the end of each week and throw it in our site's garbage tank.

Peace

I wish they could implement this in Indian offices. People will think twice before littering garbage on the streets.

Elmer,
Are you an Indian? Looks like you donot know Indian standards.
My desk is cleaned every day by 2 persons and my garbage bin is emptied by them every day.
People who throw stuff on the streets are people who donot have any education and who generally donot work in any office.
I can vouch for Tamil Nadu. The have retained a garbage disposal agency for each town and village of tamil nadu and there are a lot of garbage boxes on the streets. The Garbage is also collected everyday and streets are clean.
Compare this with Kerala where garbage is not collected from homes due to lack of landfill space. People in Kerala have to either burn their garbage, throw it on the streets or recycle their garbage.

Peace

I think you are missing the point.
I once used to work in Canada where even decent professionals (except IT and Finace) use to slog in their jobs at $ 10.5 an hour. Canada was not ready to give them professional work. So many people are suffering there.
Now India is booming with jobs. Thus guy that I am talking about returned from USA and is not up to the mark. He is paid more than his USA salary. He does not know Indian details nor does he know Indian terminology. Right now he is escaping since he is just talking to consultants. The project will be in a big mess once it comes to execution.
Why should I not look to replace him with a Canadian returned desi or a talented local who is not aware of this job.
While I used to work in Canada, I joined / gave employment to many people for $ 12/ hour job when they were at $ 8 or unemployed ($ 12 is the salary that my office used to give). I respect hard work and the degree.
Hope you understand.
Peace

TK,
Please may I konw why you returned from Canada.
I am also planning to R2I.
