Hmm.... Helps breeding more kids and one can satisfy more than one wife at the same time. But I suspect that only Halal meat would have that quality. I do not find Westerners who eat meat a very horny lot. Lol!
I request editor of this site to stop these types of debates in the forum and more concentrate on informative articles on Canada's life, education, job market, health segment, etc. etc.

Though I (as a Canadian) value free speech, it should not be at the cost of personally attacking a custom or a religion in a derogatory way as *Nightmare* has done.

And why so ??? In Jeddah , you don't allow non Islamic practices - Have you ever asked the Authorities to allow freedom of faith there ??

To the original post .. from a logical point of view , it makes sense that a slow painful death is definitely more torturous .. esp to an animal who does not know who Allah is ....
From an eating habit point of view .. I don't think it would matter to those who are non Islamic as to whether the meat is halal as long as it s clean and hygienic . Faith matters to those who believe in it ...not to others .
Thirdly I have heard of the reverse being wide spread here ..Because halal meat is costlier , restaurants and fast food eat out pass on non halal meat as halal meat .... so much so that you can find some ardent followers to be checking in the dumpsters behind these eating places to check and confirm from the packaging whether the meat being used is halal or not ...

From my friends, what I have seen is its more religious obsession than any thing else. However, there is some thing to add. It is amazing to see how some follow it meticulously ... One day we had to go to three restaurants before choosing the final one as one of my friend strictly follows "halal" thing. We went to a restaurant ... he asked the first thing "is it Halal" .... they said "NO" .... then we went to another one. Like that we had to go to three places. At one place, they said "YES" ... then my friend was happy ... and we ate there. I asked my friend how he knows the restaurant guy is telling the truth. He said there will be a difference in the taste. I do not know. I respect his belief as a friend. But personally, it was irritating for me as the degree of that obsession was too much for me. Too many beliefs and many more practices. It is very difficult to lead a simple life.

If it was irritating you should have told him, basically you aired his obsession (i call it disease) and stupidity by moving around with him....
