Again blame others for self failures. Prevented by politiciains???..were there any efforts made to learn hindi on your own? Especially when you are suppose to work outside of your region? Your politicians sounds more like taliban, if you learn Hindi, we will throw acid.
I hope next generation is learning hindi now, if not it clearly indicates this generation's encouragement of not to learn Hindi and blame it on politicans.

What TK said may be true. I too eagerly learnt Hindi. There is an excellent course (non-profit) conducted by State Bank Officers Association in Tamil Nadu. But after learning the language, could not use the same day to day and we slowly start forgetting. The state government scrupulously avoids the language, unlike our neighbors Kerala, AP or Karnataka. People there speak fluent Hindi which we really envy. The reason being the regional parties existence in TN will be threatened, if Hindi and as a result national political parties get importance.
For all that the local language Tamil too seem not doing well, thanks to entry of politics. Politicians are hailed as great Tamil scholars and the real ones neglected. Scholars in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu are doing great and frequently get national awards like Sahitya Academy etc. Ilayaraja, great music composer in TN coming from a remote village far way from Madurai has learnt and speaks fluent Kannada. Learning another language only improves creativity and hatred may actually diminish the same.
