Best to avoid BLS as much as possible.

Thanks for the reminder. This is what I am going to do when my passport expires.

What about PIO - does it apply there as well? Also, is there an official link you can provide that might suggest it?

For PIO - I believe it is a separate card valid for 15 years not tied to your PP.

For OCI - see the attached link :

Thanks. Yes. I received a separate card for PIO. But, BLS site also asked to endorse a new passport. So, I guess I need to get it endorsed.

Hi Hiren.

I really don't want to deal with BLS and yes I know that I can use new PP + old PP with OCI sticker to travel, however, some overzealous airline staff can create problems for you during travel sometimes when they don't know the rules. That's why I was thinking about having the OCI transferred to new passport and was looking to see if anyone has done it recently thru BLS.

Pretty scary reading all those BLS reviews - I would love to avoid this agency at all costs unless I absolutely don't have a choice.

In the US, the Indian mission recently replaced BLS with another agency called Cox & Kings.

I wonder why they don't do the same here in Canada.

It is unlikely that any airline staff would give you trouble if you use old passport+new passport+OCI booklet. I have seen some staff not even looking at the OCI booklet and they put it aside, but make sure you get it back.

OCI renewal to transfer sticker is a long process, you have to submit all your documents and pictures again, get bank draft made, visit BLS 4 times at least and wait for 2 months at least plus it is not mandatory in your case.
