car plate number stolen

Hi desis, I am worried today (monday), i was going out and noticed that someone stole my car number plate, both front and back. I am not sure when they stole it as i have two cars and have not used this car since friday. I called 911 and they told me someone will call me shortly to take the report. I am going to informed my insurance company too. Is there any reason why they stole my car plate number and how much do i have to pay to get it replaced. Is that someone planning to do a crime with my car plate number.
Pls respond.

ok guys i am more relaxed now, i had to get a police report then i went to the ministry of transportation and paid $20 to get a new licence plate. I am back on the road now.

did u drive to MTO without plates on your vehicle?

no my husband took me with his car to mto, i will drive my car once i fixed the licence plate on it.

Did the tax sticker also come with $20 or did you have to get a new tax sticker by paying the full price once again.

thanks for information, even i got accident on last week, now i needs also lic. plate as front plate completely torn.

these will help me to get new plates.
