Hi,

We are planing a "do-nothing" fortnight trip in Dec 2014 to Florida (palnning to drive down).

Seeking suggestions for a locality where we can find a few veggie (preferably desi) restaurants. Main requirements are a safe community with a pool (and other amenities) and a few veggie restaurants around.

Appreciate your suggestions.

Regards,

New

What part of Florida are you planning to go to?
There are lots of Indian restaurants in most major cities in Florida, such as Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami, etc.

No suggestions because it is a do nothing holiday. Just enjoy the trip in leisure and eat the food that you get enroute.

I took the route down 79 South, took a small detour into Pittsburgh. It had a Veggie Restaurant (Pure) Food was good, HOT!! and enjoyed it. UDUPI RESTAURANT near by a raquet club. I was hungry all over again when I turned the ignition on.

There may be many more near by. The trip from the border was 7 hours. Lost two hours in the line up and crossing. Gas was cheap $3.50 per gallon 3.89 liters. (We are getting skinned here.) Lived on Vegie Pizza and Fries all the way. Got a decent meal at a place called Saravana Bhavan in Orlando. They closed the sucker down now. No trace of them to tell you . Nothing less than $20 per meal

Some of the Vegie joints open only for lunch on Sundays. Most of them are closed for Mondays. A few on Monday and Tuesday. If you can starve for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, then you are all set for the rest of the week. Remember nothing less than 15 bucks a meal.

I had one of the PLUG IN traveling refrigirator, I picked up 100 Idlies from Morningside with their Chutney and Sambar.(Is it Maharashtrian Mmm??) Stayed fresh all the way and it had wheels too and a pull handle, so it climbed the front steps to a hotel.

Currently I see on TRIVAGO Very Good Hotels for 29 to 30 bucks per day close to Orlando or any other place that you want to go to. It does not have to be any town in particular, but it does have a pool, a good one too. Some even give you a free shuttle to the hollywood and you just drive around and see any or all the places. Take a lot of pictures and post them to us here. watch out some places charge you for a fridge and a microwave too. A few of them have free brackie but if you don't like eggs, then beat it to the bell and take all of the doughnuts first.

What comes to my mind is Ashirwad, Abhirochi or similar, and a place called Taste of Punjab and you just eat the Veggie parts there as it has Non Veg too. If you are a sandwich guy, then there is nothing to beat your own stacker. There are a few Royal Indian ones too, but did not visit them.

Got a set of new Michelins for 300 and a rebate coupon for forty bucks, cant beat that. Oil was 2 bucks a liter(quart) Eight bucks a jug. They must live good there. Canada is better because of the FRee Health care. Six of one and half a dozen of the other. They have got us by the ... that is for another day.

Yes Pratickm, I glorify Canada for those who want to see the FREE side and they are Happy. For those who want to know that they got us by the Baalz some where else, you got the "Six of one and Half a dozen of the other". And I don't want to screw the response to his Happy Holidays with my two bitz and extend the response. So, I wanted to cut it short and then, I will leave it for another day to tell them that the BIG local OP(E)C(ompanies) got us by the ballz. The Canadian Government sure does know how to juggle the money. (From one pocket to the other). I am lying down and taking it the missionary style or is it the position.

FH.
