I bought LG 55" 2 years ago and found the picture quality pretty good. Still going pretty strong.
One thing I read somewhere that in the stores they play with the picture settings of the TVs of different brands in order to sell one over other, and where they have to clear the stock of one particular brand in a relatively less time (I worked in a major Retail company, so I know about some facets of merchandising placement). Moreover, they have a varied lighting within the store as well as by the TVs location, which magnifies the picture quality of one TV brand over the other. Ever wonder why the settings/menu on these TVs are disabled (to most part)?
I experimented it a bit on my own by visiting different stores. None of them have a consistency of picture settings/quality for the same brand. Which apparently cemented my belief. Now, my motto is to buy FOR LESS, while not worrying unnecessarily and losing sleep over the features, picture quality (in the store display), and the brand; as long as it is a known one(LG, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba NOT Vizio, RCA, etc.). I have found the features and picture quality being consistent among all the above brands that come out in the same year/timeframe. Besides, all the known brands either use one single Vendor for their LED panels or the technology used in making LED panels is consistent regardless of the brand. The Vizio, Dynaex, Insignia, RCA however, use some other lowly vendors for their LED panels, which clearly reflects in the (low) price. But, for some people these later brands also work wonder.
Last but not the least, don't fall into the trap of Smart TV, Bluetooth, Headphones, etc. and pay extra for it. Also, I have found that some of the TVs cost a bit more just by virtue of having more HDMI receptacles (4 vs. 2). I'd buy the TV with 2 HDMIs, then buy an aftermarket HDMI switch (https://www.amazon.ca/Kinivo-501BN-Premium-wireless-adapter/dp/B0049SCB2Y) for about 30-40 bux or less.
Enjoy!
Hi RBO
Since it's a big purchase, I would suggest buying from of store like Costco which has a 90 day return period. Also, Costco returns are painless.

Thanks a lot all of you for updates, information and advice....
