Can we start a Canadiandesi photo contest :
I am sure there are many photography enthusiasts on the forum who would be willing to share their skills.

We can agree on a theme every month, then take pictures on the theme every and post it online. We can set any thoughtful themes ...like

1. Desis in Canada / Canada from an immigrants eyes

2. Scenic beauty which catches our breath ( too bad the we missed the leaves turning in fall, but smow season is about to come, morning and evening pictures can be awesome)

3. Wierdness of Canada from immigrants perspective.

and so on ...members can suggest better themes....

We can post the pictures on yahoo groups and provide a link to it , if storage space is a concern. I will volunteer to recieve and update the pictures regularly, and post genuine contributions to prevent abuse .

the winning picture can be decided by voting by members....we can keep the contributors name hidden to keep the voting unbiased. and we can keep posting the contributions in the "picture of the day section".

We might just have some great talents among us, and we will get to share the talents of our members.

I dont know how difficult it might be to implement technically , just had a thought and i wanted to share it .

This is a good idea. There are some script available as photo rater and I have to check I can I combine them into the site.

Good suggestion MI! More important, it will provide an opportunity for variety on this board that otherwise seems to have very little to do with anything else other than discuss the same isuues of immigration/success/failure over and over and over again!!

To GG:
I did see your Photo rater site but did not register yet. However, what I would like to say is that it would be better if the activity of that site could ne integrated seamlessly into the CD that we have. The thing is, that if the photo business is kept as a separate entity with separate logins etc, it will remain a closed community of only those who are interested in posting and rating pics etc., the "photo oriented" desis. Making it a part of the CD dere will give it a much larger audience and a chance of better participation.
Just suggestions.

I know and that's why I have not implemented it right away. Whatever I will do will be part of the site. And that will take some time.

There is no harm in registering on that site - anyway I am going to scrap that database so just go ahead and test it.
