I got my PR alongwith my family in September 2003 as a landed immigrant. I applied for my citizenship in December 2006. During this time I was in canada. I never worked during this time and was living on my savings from USA, and my wife was also working. After applying for citizenship, I again went to USA on H1b visa. My citizenship is denied on the basis that i don't have proper documents to proof my stay in canada. I submitted rental lease, my training course proof which i took here, bank statment etc. what should i do ??

I think the immigration department finds it suspicious that you were able to find job in USA before and after living in Canada but was not able to find work in Canada between 2003 and 2006.

Why didn't you try to find a job here in Canada those three years? I think immigration department suspects you left your wife here and was working in USA, visiting here occasionally. If you can prove otherwise, then you can appeal their decision

It is difficult to live in Canada without working for 3 years. either you work or study .

anytime25us, if i understand you properly you have been physically been living in canada for 3 years without going to the US and still your citizenship application has been rejected. You can appeal of course by showing your bank transactions, doctor visits reports if any, phone bills etc.

Thanks for the reply. can you please guide me how to appeal ??

Yes, I have been physically been living in canada for 3 years without going to the US. Only thing is I could not produce the monthly bank statements, telephone bills etc. at the time of judge interview because I never kept my phone bills, bank's monthly statements etc. with me. I usually destroyed them

Now I have to request my bank and my credit card company if they can provide me the monthly statements again for that period.

It's unfortunate - especially after physically living in Canada and satisfying the physical presence test. If not the bills, you might want to request your phone company or rental office of your apt to give you the letters stating that you were a customer from XYZ time to ABC time - something like that. Get whatever you can, including your credit card bills - the credit card companies do give you the past bills for a nominal charge - I know this for sure. So try contacting them. Good luck!
