Desimisri, what is your opinion? Dubaidesie?
I hope you do not get offended by what i am writing, but in India I knew many Muslims who enjoyed liquor and did not keep strict fasts and also enjoyed interest on their money.

Get what you want by helping others get what they want
Allow me....
Except in Middle east (that too not sure if all of ME, dubai desie will confirm) virtually all muslims enjoy interest on their money. this is true.
In the part of India where I come from, By and large the vast majority of muslims fast and do not drink....speaking as always from personal experience.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

He has his own weaknesses, yet he has followed the mimansa. Listen what he has to say. Don't bother about the smashits ads. Try listening or reading to any audios or books of Osho. You will know the strenghts and weaknesses any way. Thanks

So you guys want some feedback on my point of view of religion.
To answer the original question "Who created religions?"
Men did of course, who else? Notice I am saying "men" did, not "we". I neither say "women".
AS to my opinion on religion, here is a quote from todays Toronto Star's letter section.

`Anti-Semitism' meaningless term

A call to arms on anti-Semitism
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opinion, Oct. 15.
So, a Christian, a Muslim and a Jew are asking me to condemn anti-Semitism. I would feel better if three human beings had asked me to be more humane. But as long as people insist on belonging to various tribes, it is futile to ask them to be human first. And as long as they are tribal, they are bound to the rules of the tribe. And they are bound, sooner or later, to see other tribes as threatening. It is a vicious circle that never ends.
Call me anti-Semitic, I don't care. It's a meaningless term, applied to anyone who says anything critical of Jews in any context. Personally, I find the treatment of the Palestinians to be an abomination, but to some people that's an anti-Semitic attitude. I suspect the Israeli soldier who went back and emptied his gun into the dying (or already dead) Palestinian girl a few days ago, would consider me anti-Semitic, as he no doubt considered her. Am I supposed to accept such brutality or be called anti-Semitic? Some choice. When you become human and humane, I will open my heart to you. Not before.

It says it all- just be humane and kind. The rest is meaningless.

yes, the entrepreneur. i live in indonesia and the form of islam is very moderate here. most managers are women; some women wear a jilabab, though not many; i've never seen a woman wearing a veil; ramadan is respected and no food or water is consumed during the day; the society is officially not muslim, in fact, but acknowledges christianity, buddhism and hinduism (bali is hindu); however, 90% of the population is muslim.
there is ongoing civil strife and when a region breaks down, it usually does so along religious lines though not always. sometimes the rift is along ethnic lines.
bars, discos, massage parlors, etc all close for ramadan. otherwise, indonesia is very much integrated into asia rather than the middle east.
One very important point you have missed JSethi is that these messengers of God always emphasised on soul's journey back to the Godhead. They themselves never raised any foundations of religions.
Their followers, long after they were gone and having forgotten their original teachings, decided to band together so as to have some sort of a distinctive rules or ways of life. Thats how religions came into existence.
That is why religions always reflect social and ecnomical aspects of any society where as the actual "message" of all religions is same, be it south america or jungles of africa.
