I can't say for others but IMO it is not a good idea until you definitely have contacts that can help you sell stuff. There is every possiblity that not only will your airfare remain un-reimbursed, you might actually have to take back all that stuff back to India and be stuck with it if you are not able to return it.

If you do bring and not able to sell, we at Cd will buy it , whatever it is ( of course a 50 -90% discount will be appreciated).

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
The way the thread is developing, a new post would come up - Reimbursement of LOSS incurred from goods brought for 'Reimbursement of AIRFARE'

I have seen a TV serial like this one in India where a guys comes to Ahmedabad from USA and brings lots of Phoren Goods to sell and arranges full finance for his wedding. Then he goes about looking for different girls.
I dont remember the name.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
One of my friends got some stuff from India last year to test the market. The items were mostly handmade and it was Rajasthani puppets, hand made jewellary, necklaces (small beeds), bangles and bracelets.
We OURSELVES (me and my friend) took all those things to show the shopowners as samples on Queen Street. We had about 50 neckalecs in total (5 each of 10 different varieties), 5 puppets and some door hangings (like those cow bells type). It took us about two days to cover almost 25 shops (JUST) on Queen street. Most of them are Gora shops and we got some orders from Gora shops only. Couple of those guys bought the samples even, though we told them that those were just samples.
BTW, there are few shops on Queen street itself which are full of Indian stuff. If you have never visited there, go and check the shop named: Shanti Baba. It is on the intersection of Bathurst and Queen. It is owned by a Gora and you may see the things which you might not have seen even in India.
BTW, the cost of those samples were approaximately INR 4500 (apprx. CAD150), we made apprx. $140. One necklace which costed us apprx. $4, we sold it to a gora in $15!!!
So do not over estimate the gora shopkeepers or rather DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF AND YOUR SKILLS. Even if you get BIRIS from India, you can easily sell those Bidi Bundles, $2 each on a Saturday night on the Queen street in downtown Toronto. Believe me, no kidding!
But you got to have it to do it. DO YOU HAVE IT IN YOU?
