Can anyone please help me, im going to USA first time
i want to go by BUS
i live in toronto
im on student status
will the bus wait for me if they check my passport at the border
Any experienced person here?
hi Puttar,
One of my friend who was on student visa went NY last yr thru greyhound and he told me that when you reach at border you have to take out your baggage and go thru immigration and then get into bus again. So, don't worry as everyone has to pass thru immigration the only difference is that they might be from visa waiver countries and you have visa.
Take care

I have travelled thrice by coach. Yes, the bus will wait for you - more so since every passenger irrespective of nationality has to get down and queue up at the counter. At the end, the driver will also do a quick number check to ensure that there's nobody 'missing'.
Daks
thanks sukh and daks, i think i'll book my ticket now

I am just curious - why are you going by bus?
Isn't it a lot cheaper to fly, and a whole lot faster.
Sometimes Greyhound has great sales where it is cheaper to take the bus to some smaller destinations, but isn't flying cheaper 99% of the time and a lot faster?

pratickm thats true, but at this time of the year the bus is cheaper
the difference is just about a 100 bucks, so im still thinking to go by air
I have a question, if i said i was going to goto ohio, but i actually went to CA would they ask me at the immigration checkpoint?
Why not go by the Charter buses. It cost $110 to NY city and back.
They are good when you are travelling on long weekends. they leave around 6-7 PM and are i NY early next morning (approx 10 hours.
The number to call is: 416-536-1082. I think the person is 'Sandy'
I just got this number yesterday.
At times they go to PA for $40 on day trips.
I have not been on one of their trips, but heard it is very reliable.
