I won't say desis here are less friendly, quite the contrary. But yeah, desis in Canada (the ones who migrate from desh, not the ones who're born here) don't like to "go out" as much in the western sense. The reason is simple, most of them are already married when they come here, the majority have kids too. The approach on socializing is more getting together at somebody's place for dinner or a family picnic in summer. Boring stuff if you're single!![]()
Good luck!![]()

Hi!
I am all for this "making new friends" experiment. Let's do it! PLEASE!!! I miss my mates back in the UK so much and I know there are people here who just want to have that same companionship they had with their friends back home.
Yes some of us married, but so what? Do us married folks not need a network of friends on who we can depend and support each other? Thru hard times and good times, we all need our friends...and for those who have left theirs behind to come to this wonderland of Canada, let's stop being so stuck-up and TALK to each other. Reach out to that person you see at the bus stop every morning, call that person you met at a family friends house when you went for dinner that one night, be brave enough to start a convo with that young couple you see at the indian grocery at the weekend...make the first move!
(if a young girl of around 26, slim build, straight dark brown hair, starts talking to you out from nowhere...you know why now)

Try overtaking child's imagination
I think it is misconception that married guys do not want to go out, hangout and do things like unmarried do. We (the married guys with children) feel that we are unwelcome to the world of bachelors/spinsters. My wife and I for one are always willing to participate in fun activities with singles - whether it be a dinner at home followed by Karoke, or going out for bowling, bar-b-queing, bars, long drives, or simply coffee or ice cream. And I do have friends who are interested in doing that.
But then we are treated as untouchables (or no fun) by the singles. They fail to realise that if they make friends with the married ones, while the married people will join them for fun activities most of the times, but also treat them to home cooked food many a times too!
What sez you?

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
