VJ,
I can understand your reasons for deleting the story, I would've done the same thing.
Anyways, you sure are a brave guy. Would like to meet you sometime. If you continue to have the kind of focus you have currently, I think you'll go a long way here, or anywhere else for that matter.
All the best to you in your future endeavours.

I have seen this topic and several posts/ replies. The success story of VJ and subsequent replies has prompted me to post this note.
It is a matter of background and the job you take up here. In VJ's case he was in Insurance / Sales in India and a call centre/ marketing would be an ideal launch pad for him to start with and he was righfully happy with it.
But the same call centre job is viewed by many( Acct ., Engg , IT ) as an entry level / survival job because it does not add to their career .
Likewise a factory machine operator is considered a labor job by many but is the right job to start for a person with an industrial background / machinist/ ITI etc.
Depends on what way we see it.
All the best to fellow desi's

Dear Goldeneye,
Yes, I agree with you on one fact that these jobs is the first step towards getting your field job in future. But the outcomes are making the bottom lines for the road ahead.
I mean to say that the outcome of FACTORY labour jobs by and large do not add to a person's attributes (soft especially), which at a long run helps in getting all the kinds of jobs. Because they are the ones which becomes the factors of Benchmarks at various openings.
So considering this, my view is that the CALL CENTER JOBS or talkative jobs are to be used by every professional, who enters CANADA. These jobs doesn't only help you in survival but they will start developing yourself with COMMUNICATION, APPROACH, PRONUNCIATIONS etc. Because I still emphasis on three factors for success in CANADA.
1 APPROACH (SELF, Resume, covering letter etc..)
2 COMMUNICATION
3 NETWORKING
So the call center and related jobs help you in the first two, which are the most crucial factors required for all other jobs. As they are practically used for doing these jobs successfully.
Its still too early for me to use the word "SUCCESS" in my case. But remember one thing, SUCCESS is our own defined measure. First you have to ask yourself, at what stage you started benchmarking. Is it the right time of benchmark? HAVE I DONE EVERYTHING, which requires to start talking that "I HAVE ACHIEVED SUCCESS?". So the need is going back to the theory, which I started following for myself,
SURVIVAL (do you think SUCCESS word exists here? I don't think so.) - Give yourself 1/2 years
ESTABLISHMENT (it's just the foundation laying of the building called "SUCCESS TOWER" - Give yourself total 3 years
RISING - (From here, I start feeling strength full, as I know the system, people, resources etc.).
After passing through these three phases, SUCCESS can be defined by us.
Thats all from me and these are my inputs, not hard and fast to be followed or agreed upon. best of luck.
Regards,
VJ.
