Hi,
We landed recently and came back to USA (without collecting PR cards). Now canadian authorities sent letter to my cousin's place in Canada asking me to visit their office for taking new picture for my PR card. My wife and I (principal applicant) both landed on the same day and my wife received the PR Card (no issues with photo).

My concerns are, do they cancel my PR status if I do not visit their office, meaning, not possessing PR Card for sometime. If I have to enter Canada, I need travel document and how much time does the process to receive travel doc takes. Kindly let me know.

Hi,

It sometimes does happen that the pictures taken at the airport are not good enough for the PR cards and therefore you have been advised to visit them to get you picture done again.

Well, according to the information on the Immigration Canada's website, the PR card is required to enter Canada if you are arriving by a COMMERCIAL transport. I believe that if you are travelling in a private vehicle and carry sufficient documentation to prove you being legitimate PermanentResident, you maybe allowed to enter. Please click on the following link and act accordingly. To avoid inconvenience at the border, you may alternatively contact nearetst Canadian Consulate in the US and request them for Temporary Travel Document.

Hope this helped.

Hi ,

If you come by your own car or a rental car you can enter Canada without PR card. All you have to show your passport with attached copy of landing document.

I did it many times in February till I got my PR card.
