I will be moving soon to Toronto with my wife and 11 year old son. My wife, currently she is working as a teacher and she is in this profession for last 7 years. Can any body tell me what is the prospect for job for my wife in a high schools in Toronto and what salary she should expect.

she has to go thru certification process which may/may not be long. after that it is all her luck if she can get some supply teaching ( aroung 165 CAD per day). I don;t know wheather they recognise Hindi as a subject. It is along process

In my view there is a demand for teachers, but NOTHING for a Hindi teacher as such. My wife was a Hindi teacher in Singapore before moving here and explored the possibilites after moving. Finally she settled to do her B ed here and is now a primary/junior teacher which means she is expected to be able to teach all subjects.
However, I am seriously thinking of starting a Hindi school - with initial stress on conversational Hindi and hoping it can become a big project. There are lot of parents who wish their children (and at times, themselves) can speak good Hindi, though they are not so keen on learning to read and write.

Can you give some more details? I know someone who has also done teacher certification as an elementary school teacher from here.
How easy is it to get a regular job once someone is certified? Is it normal and usual to become a "supply" and then wait until a regular position becomes available?
Any other information that you think is useful.

I've been checking for hindi teachers for my kids and have found classes held in temples/gurudwara's close to where I live. Also there are a few schools in Montreal itself...run by 'Hindi Quebec'. Maybe there are similar organisations in Toronto. Did a google search.
