Quote:what documents they ask to bring on day of oath
Orginally posted by ddsunil
Hello
I have an oath ceremony of MOnday and I wanted to know if I can apply for my canadian passport the same day as I cant take days off from work too much.
The day I take the oath, do I get proof of citizenship that I can take to apply.
In the checklist it mentions some documents, all of which I have except the proof. Can someone tell me if I get that proof the day I take the oath.
Thanks
They sent me a list of items to bring in.
PR Card.

I did get my citizenship on Fb16 and applied for the passport the same day and got it in 2 buisness day. But you need to prepare for your passport application in advance. Hope this will be helpful.

Application requirements checklist
To ensure timely processing of your application, please be sure to submit all the necessary documents with your application. To obtain a passport, you must:
Complete and sign all pages of the application form. (Find out where to obtain application forms).
Provide two identical passport photos taken within the last 12 months.
Have the application form and one photo signed by an eligible guarantor.
Provide original proof of Canadian citizenship.
Provide any previous Canadian travel document issued to you within the last five years such as a passport, a certificate of identity or a travel document.
Provide at least one document to support your identity with your current name and signature, such as a driver's licence, a provincial health care card, an old age security card, etc.
If you submit original supporting documents, they will be returned to you. If you are submitting photocopies, your guarantor must sign and date the photocopies to indicate that the originals have been seen.
Place of birth: Your place of birth must be provided on the application form. If you do not wish the place of birth to appear in the passport, submit a written request. Be sure to contact the consulate or embassy of every country you plan to visit to ensure that you will be admitted if the passport does not include your place of birth.

They do not look at the Indian passport for the oath ceremony. But u might want to take care of the lost indian passport as u would have to do something to let them know that you are a canadian citizen and legally u cannot hold passports of two countries at the same time. Like a police complaint or something like that may be needed to tkae care of that.
Hi manhari,
please keep updated what happened next ? did u file for another passport ? or the FIR was just sufficient ? ... in problems ?
