Do they take all PR card and give citizenship card at that time or we can decide to apply for citizenship card when we need. As I need to goto India in next two days of my citizenship oath and I cannot get passport in only two days as i have oath on thursday and ticket for india is on sunday.

After you become a Canadian citizen legally you can no longer travel on your Indian passport, which means you'll need a Canadian passport to travel. The PR card is not a travel document, so it does not matter if they take it away (which they probably may), it's your passport, which will be an issue here.

Bad planning....:p

You cannot use your Indian passport to enter Canada anymore. It is illegal to even use the Indian passport.

You can try to get emergency Canadian passport. Next working day. If you get citizenship on Thursday , you can get passport on Friday. Run to the Indian consulate for emergency visa. You should be able to make it...

Best of luck! Keep us posted on how it works out..

I don't think you can blame the poster for their travel plans. I'm sure the travel plans must have been made a few months in advance. CIC send the Oath notice only a few days in advance. One thing what could have been done was to call CIC prior to booking the tickets and check if the Oath notice was expected. They usually have that info. Alternatively you can also let them know that you'll be outside the country for a given period that way they delay sending the Oath notice.

You can apply for emergency passport, which you can get next day. At Indian Embassy you will need to reach very early (before 8 or so) so that you get your visa by noon.

Another option is to go to the Citizenship office early explain the situation and let them have your ooth early. I have seen myself that one one girl had her exams as well as citizenship oath at the same time. She requested the judge and she was allowed to take oath on the spot. To do this however you might have to struggle a lot. If you get only the front window people they will not listen to you. Try getting a letter from MPs etc. to support your case.

Another option is to skip this oath for now and go to India on Indian Passport.
