Hi,
I have a question regarding citizenship oath. I recieved my oath date on 04/30/2004. But I am not having my passport with me.
DEFINITELY DO WE NEED PASSPORT TO SHOW FOR OATH?
Is it OK if I show my driver's license or any other identity proof?
It would be great if anybody tell their recent experience.
Thanks
Kalroche
Congratulations, you made it. Hopefully someone will respond soon, who took oath already.
Meanwhile, we will really appreciate if you can please let all of us know about your experience... following are the few questions that I can think of...
1) test date and location
2) how long it took for the Oath Letter
3) Did the online message change and what does it say now
4) How much time do you have.... between the date that you received the oath letter and the date of taking Oath.

hi, folks, hope that everyone share their experience with one another, i find that someone only like to get information from others, while keep their own from telling the others. I hope everyone can share with each other to keep the forum going. thanks. by the way, villageoak , are you still wait for the oath? good luck.

First of all congratulations on getting your Oath Ceremony Letter and the date, which is tomorrow.
You have to take the same documents and show it to them what you had shown them at the time of giving the test. If you have a PR card and showed them the same at the time of test, you do not need passport. However, if you have the old landing papers (IMM 1000) which is attched to the passport, then you have to take that paper with you. They are not concerned with your passport but they want to cancel your PR card (which they will take back from you as they will issue you the Citizenship Card) or if you have the IMM 1000 landing paper, they will stamp it as cancelled and return it back to you and would ask you to keep that at a safe place for your future record.
Hence please make sure to take your driving license, PR card or the IMM 1000 paper and Photo Health Card if you have one and most importantly the letter you received inviting you for the Oath ceremony.
Good Luck.

Thanks pramod chopra and village oaks for your wishes
I got my citizenship certificate , card and applied for passport on same day. They said 14 days to get the passport by Regd post.
The breakdown is :
Citizenship applied on : Sep 03
Test letter received in March 10,04 (letter dated Mar 05,04)
Took test on : Mar20, 04
Oath letter received on Apr 20,04 (letter dated Apr 16, 04)
Took Oath on : Apr 30, 04
Test and Oath centre: Watline Dr., Mississauga
Passport applied at Passport office on Burnhamthorpe Rd.,
I am an Indian and my file processed at London Consulate and ever since my landing I am living in Brampton,
There were 120 atttended for oath ceremony.
There is no coordination inon line status and mail (POST) you receive.
Online status was not UP TO DATE, I mean first I received post (Both test and oath )then after a week or so online status is updated. May be they update their server 1 or 2 times a week. I am not sure.
Take Landing paper and PR card to the oath centre. Both are MUST.
They were very particular about Landing paper. I saw they sent a family back to get it.
They stamped " This person no more Permanent Resident" on landing paper and returned to me but they took the PR card.
They dont bother about passport at Oath. But better to have it with you.
On your passport application mention Good references with full details, it seems Citizenship Canada will call those references and ask about the applicant. How he/she looks like? how many your know that kind of stuff.
As it is last step, I think they look back from which consulate your PR appliation processed until your location where you applied.
And some other factors as pramod chopra said, they may check background, and i heard from some body that scarborough takes long time.
Just be patient, thats what i would suggest to those who are waiting for this conclusive step.
I got lots of info from this website and thanks again for suggestions.
