Some very good points about interview techniques Das I must say. But I would like to say you are going too far when you write this:

Quote:
I cannot stress how important the interview is in the Canadian job market.

Interview is very very important anywhere - whether it be Canada, US, England, India, Dubai, Singapore, Indonesia or Australia. And most of the things that you have written apply to ALL these places with many be (and only May Be) slight/subtle differences.

Why I bring up this point? Simply because it is a general feeling in North Americans that they are different from the rest of the world and do it the best way. No they are not different, and they are not the best. Others have similarities with them (like the ones you have mentioned) and so it neither makes them different, nor the best!

And though it might not be relevant to most people - I hope you can also chalk up some advice for interviews in a different environment - something mostly done for senior level positions usually. Fortunately or unfortunately, before coming to Canada, except for one interview, I have always had interviews in my life either in hotel lobbies, owner's house or the sofas in the senior executives office cabin. In such a scenario, some of the general things will be common, but many will be specific to the special atmosphere (like crossing your legs, sitting comfortably with ;your back on the backrest rather than your butt on the edge of the sofa, talking about the business knowledge rather than the technical aspect your particular field, etc. etc.). I hope that might give a lot of insight to persons who have come here from very high positions in other countries but are not able to fit in well here.

Das-fx,
Great job. you are really doing a very great thing. I , for one, will follow your points when i am going to an interview.
Thanks

I am really really surprised at some of the responses like the one above!!!

It is almost incredulous, but is it really correct that you guys who are thanking Das-FXhave never even tried to learn the finer points of how to do better when attending interviews??

Is it really correct that until this current advice and education fromDas-FX you were not even aware of the numerous resources available that provided this information??

And if that indeed is true, which sadly it seems to be, you guys DID make a mistake coming here!!

Go home!!

Exactly my thoughts, any recent graduate from a second, even third grade collage from a country like India knows/does this when he goes for an interview even for a post of clerk. If you think yourself as highly skilled professional with years of experience and needs this kind of advise, I wonder how you got your education/job in India in first place.

And Please don’t go home, even India doesn’t need you.

Phew, I got it off my chest finally. I thought will never got involved in topics like this but well there is first for everything.
