I had applied for PR under skilled worker category in August 04 and was expecting an IA in may. What i got was a request to do IELTS even though i had furnished proof of english language ability and cited 5 yrs in US.

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to process the paperwork in such circumstances? I looked at the Buffalo tracker but there is no timeline for cases that had to go through these additional steps.

thanks in advance

Hello,

You have been requested to give IELTS, that means, visa officer is not satisfied with the English proficiency level you claimed against submitted documents. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your claim.

This also means that your application for PR has been officially accepted since you meet the definition of skilled worker but it is into 2nd phase. i.e "Putting Application in Process" This step includes creating a file number and acknowledgement of receipt to you after submission of your IELTS result.

At this point you will jump to 3rd phase. i.e "Reviewing Application".

Hope, This will help.

Dont know what your are talking about, totally confused. I had a filr number and AOR in August, they asked me to take IELTS in May this year. According to what you are saying, i should be getting a file number after getting the result. Will that be a new file number and a new AOR.

And the question is if anyone knows how long after submitting IELTS results should a see a decision. Most people who file in august 04 have already got their IA. I would have got mine too if my idiot consultant had not convinced me to not worry about IELTs but write a simple letter with the application saying that i have good english.

Hi Mishraji,
I will probably have the same pblm. I am supposed to land on Aug1st and will apply for PR. I am not sure abt IELTS stuff and was thinking to take it this year. Similar to you I have 4 yrs in Germany but don't know if that can be used as an alternative for IELTS.
I am interested if you can tell me the outcome of your application (with/without IELTS)..
Thanks
satya

what i did was to make an appointment with one of the IELTS test centers and took the test. If you have graduate degree from US, i am sure your IELTS will work out fine. You need 7 or moe in each category to claim 16 points for english proficiency.

I got the results in 14 days. Sent them the same day and finall got my IA in exactly 30 days.

The longest time was in getting a date for te etst. Most centers are overbooked. I had to fly to Florida to take the test since other centers in my area were all booked for months.
