Hi All,
I recently got married in India and will be sponsoring my wife for PR. She currently has an Indian passport. Do I need to get her last name changed in the passport (surname changed due to marriage) before applying for sponsorship or I can keep her before marriage surname and get the Visa on that passport?
Also is a Birth certificate with Name and initials ok? Since she is south indian, and as most south Indians don't use their full name and use initials instead, she has her birth certificate with just her first name and last name initials. Will that be a problem to match since passport has full first and last name and birth certificate has First name and last name initials.
Thanks in Advance.

Did anyone change their wife's last name in passport before applying for sponsorship? Any such cases?

Changing last names after marriage is optional, not a legal requirement. Hence it is up to you whether to change or not.
The birth certificate the way it is should be ok. If you'd like, you can, with your application, include a letter briefly explaining the practice of one name and initial.
