Hi,
My wife got HER passport requisition letter yesterday from CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION,NEWDELHI .Here are the details
PLEASE RETURN THIS FORM WITH THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS
1. Original passports for you and your accompanying dependants (See below for details). Please note that your surname must be endorsed on your passport. The names Kaur and Singh do not qualify for the purpose of immigration to Canada
My question is what is meant by
"Please note that your surname must be endorsed on your passport."?
Can anyone of you explain based upon your experience, what this means? Does this mean that my (husband's) surname name should be included in her passport or we need to get a new passport which mentions my surname?
FYI, My wife dint change her last name after marriage because we thought its not mandatory.
The letter also states to respond within in 60 days, but surprisingly there is no date on the letter. In case we respond late (say after 40 days) but within 60 days, will there be any issues/concerns?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Kumar
On your wife's passport there must be her surname on it. eg if her name is XYZ then on her passport it should be accompained by her surname, like xyz gupta or xyz jain. it shouldnt be only XYZ.
it doesnt matter if she didnt changed her last name after marriage, so dont worry about it.
she should submit her passport asap to avoid delay.

Thanks Anand for a prompt response !
The reason for responding to the CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION after 40 days with the passport is because my wife has come to visit me to celebrate my birthday. She is planning to be back in India in another 30 days and follow up ASAP.
Other than the delay from our side, will there be any other concerns raised by the high commision due to this delay which is within their 60 days deadline?
Regards,
Kumar
