Dear CDs,

we are planning a trip to India this december and after a good 2 years. Tickets have been purchased, leave has been sanctioned, shopping has been done and many exciting plans while in india have been drawn.:)

But, a small issue has cropped up... the proverbial \"spanner in the wheels\" kind of thing..:D

How would a smart;) Canadain desi/desinee handle this situation?

problem: we are a family of three flying out of pearson airport at 7 PM on Dec 1st Thursday. How do we get to the airport without falling at the mercy of the Taxiwalla?

some of my Choices:

Choice #1: Get a friend to drop us off. But, its a Thursday and my friends would be working and i wish not to ask them to take half a day off for us.

Choice #2: Drive my family to the airport very early in the afternoon with my car. Drop them off. Drive back home and park my car. Then take a TTC to airport. But, then god knows when i will reach the airport.

Choice #3: err....Just call a taxi, pay up anywhere between 50-60 bucks for the airport, all the while thinking why it costs 50$ to drive a 20km trip when i can fillup my car for 50 bucks and drive 600km!!!!:(

this brings me back to my original question...what would a smart;) Canadain desi/desinee do in this situation?

fire away, please.

Hi Senappa,

I can come and drop you at the gate of your flight's departure. Honestly saying, you can't get parking so easily (i always get it on the 4th level)and would have to spend at least 12 $. So I can pick you up and drop right in front of the main gate.

But what about your luggage? My matrix can take two bags with all the seats occupied. It takes 6/8 bags if only one person comes with me and we make a room behind by using the seats adjustment.

Think it over and let me know, as I am in business I can spare some time for sure. KOI PUCHH NE WALA NAHI HAI...ha ha ha...:D

Regards,

VJ.

Not many replies....i was thinking perhaps CDs have some special way of getting around this problem...

has anyone ever tried my option 2 of taking a TTC to the airport?

I have never tried that option, but if you call the TTC toll free number, they should be able to give you exact timings of buses leaving from your place to the Airport. You can then calculate the total time involved. I think it wont be less than 1.5 hours from scarborough.
You will have to use the TTC subway too and change at least 3 transport mediums.

BTW VJ is very kind to offer you a helping hand. Time is what Canadians dont have, and time is what one should *not* be expecting from the others in Canada :) .

Take the taxi, save time and hassle.

I do not know how long you will be able to hold on that $50 anyway considering you must be spending few thousands for air ticket and shopping.

Theres no beating Rajcanada's logic, for sure, on this one.

However it was touching to see VJ make that offer so selflessly. Makes one feel glad at heart that there are such people still around. Hats off to you VJ, dost. Bahut badiya.
