I am planning to open a consulting company so that i should be able to sign contracts with the US companies to do IT work. I was looking what kind of company or Inc i have to register. Will anyone here guide me to findout the best way.

for this you have to hire a accountant. it depends upon you weather you want to open a numbered or named company .and there are two types of companies 1) fedral 2)provencial . fee for fedral is 200 $ and provencial 300$.name search 20 $ and accountants fee is extra.so contact to some accountant.if need any help write me at

If you are working as an independant contractor, you can open a company with GST no on the web. I had done it in 2002. However, once you start employing others I am not sure if that is going to work.

i donot remember the link now but try to log onto any govt website preferably Canada Revenue & Customs Agency website and search. Or alternatively google it.
